Why plan your week using the planets?
Each day of the week is ruled by a different planet, infusing it with the energy and strengths of that planetary ruler. By planning your week according to the unique energy of each day, you can find more flow and harness the gifts of each planet to make your days productive, fruitful and joyful.
It’s no coincidence that our modern 7-day week looks the way it does. Ancient cultures crafted the template for the calendar week around the movement of planets in the sky, choosing 7 days to represent each of the 7 classical heavenly bodies: the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. (Whereas the ancient Egyptian week was 10 days long, and the original Roman week was 8 days long).
Anyone familiar with a Romance language like French, Spanish or Italian knows that the days of the week are named after planets. You’ll find each of these languages below.
But my favourite reason to plan your week using planets is because we were not designed to be doing the same things every single day on repeat.
Planning each day based on its planetary ruler means you avoid groundhog day, prevent burning out and see more success in your projects as you harness the right energy on the right day.
Let’s explore what activities you can assign to each day to honour the planets and live a more purposeful, aligned life.
But remember, this is not gospel – don’t let your Little Miss Perfect creep in here. Every part of your week doesn’t have to be perfectly aligned with the planets; treat them more as starting points or suggestions. There’s no way to get this wrong.
I’d recommend starting with choosing one activity to plan on each day.

Monday
Moon Day
lunedí | lunes | lundi
Mondays are ruled by the slow, deep and spiritual energy of the Moon. They are a day for you to live in flow, recharge and reconnect.
Whilst they are typically the first day of a workweek, if you have the flexibility, infuse some of this gentle, homebody energy into your Mondays. Or better yet, take them off.
Here is what you can plan for Mondays:
- Home maintenance (watering houseplants, gardening)
- Cooking meals (I do my meal prep for the week on Mondays)
- Stay home if you can
- Calming projects or methodical activities (easy admin tasks, packing orders)
- Spiritual cleansing (sage or incense your home)
- Setting up for the week
- Bathe or swim (water is closely tied to the Moon)
Tuesday
Mars Day
martedí | martes | mardi
Tuesdays are a fiery, energetic and ‘get shit done’ day.
This day is perfect for assigning tasks that require the most energy or assertiveness. Tuesdays give us momentum and move us forward in life
Here is what you can plan for Tuesdays:
- Intense workouts
- Difficult projects or tasks (nutting out solutions)
- Practice your passion
- Take risks and brave action (commit to something you’ve been sitting on)
- Make decisions
- Have sex!

Wednesday
Mercury Day
mercoledí | miércoles | mercredi
On Wednesdays our mind and voice are at their most powerful, so it’s time to express yourself. Mercury rules communication and the of sharing ideas.
Here is what you can plan for Wednesdays:
- Schedule meetings
- Make calls
- Write any content
- Catch up on texts and emails
- Send out newsletters or post on socials

Thursday
Jupiter Day
giovedí | jueves | jeudi
Thursday is the lucky day, since Jupiter rules expansion, abundance and opportunity.
To me, this day is more about the energy I’m embodying rather than the activities I’m doing – how can I approach each task and moment with the vibe of “I’m so lucky, everything is working out for me”?
Here is what you can plan for Thursdays:
- Abundance work (journalling or rituals related to expansion)
- Shoot your shot! (ask for a raise, send out an expression of interest)
- Go out and place yourself in situations where opportunities may come to you (your favourite coffee shop, a women’s circle)

Friday
Venus Day
venerdí | viernes | vendredi
Fridays are all about love, beauty, romance and money. (I don’t like to play favourites, but Friday is my favourite day. Probably because Venus is the deity I work with most closely.)
Venus wants you to indulge, to be social and to appreciate beauty on this day. This is the time to romanticise your life.
Here is what you can plan for Fridays:
- Self-love rituals (you can follow my gorgeous Friday Venus Ritual I do each week)
- Finance and money rituals (bookkeeping but indulgent – light some candles or have a glass of wine)
- Create art
- Nourish your talents
- Socialise with friends (a jazz club or cosy night in)
- Date Night (with yourself or your lover)
Saturday
Saturn Day
sabato | sábado | samedi
Saturdays are perfect for organising, wrapping up and completing tasks you didn’t finish during the day.
Saturn is the ‘taskmaster’ of the planets and loves a busy, self-disciplined morning of errands.
Here is what you can plan for Saturdays:
- Life admin (booking appointments)
- Cleaning and tidying
- Running errands
- Fixing things around the home
Sunday
Sun Day
domenica | domingo | dimanche
This one speaks for itself! (The Romance languages don’t sound as close for this one, because they are named after the ‘Lord’s Day’ rather than the planetary ruler).
Sundays are simple – do what brings you joy. I try to not leave any errands or work for the day ruled by the Sun, so I can spend it completely immersed in activities and people that give me life.
Here is what you can plan for Sundays:
- A day in nature (hiking, swimming)
- Picnic with friends
- Entire day without technology (I love locking my phone away)
- Board games with dinner
- Painting in the garden
- Long self-care afternoon
- Binge your feel-good series
Remember to start small and simple. Choose one easy activity each day to add more of the planet’s flavour.
I also like to sit down on a Monday and write out my tasks for the week, and then assign them to the day most supportive of their energy.
For tasks or appointments you can’t move around, you can still infuse the planetary ruler of the day into how you approach the task. Working on a Sunday? Start the morning off with an early walk in nature!
With love,
