We all express love in different ways, and knowing your unique flavour of lovin’ can make relationships feel more fulfilling and run smoother. If you don’t know what your love language is already, then your astrology birth chart can point you in the right direction. Here’s how to find out your love language according to your zodiac sign.
What are the Love Languages?
The Love Languages describe how you personally give and receive love. There are 5 established ones according to Gary Chapman’s famous book:
- Words of Affirmation: not just compliments or “I’m so proud of you,” but showing genuine appreciation for who your loved ones are and what they do
- Physical Touch: hugs, kisses, cuddling, a supportive shoulder squeeze
- Quality Time: the gift of someone’s full presence and really connecting deeply
- Meaningful Gifts: it’s not the material item, but the thoughtfulness and personalisation
- Acts of Service: showing someone you care by wanting to lighten their load and make their day better
Knowing your unique style of showing love is useful in all relationships to see if you and your loved one are speaking the same language: do you know what makes each other feel really appreciated, or are you getting your wires crossed?
Does your partner always cook for you after a long workday (and yeah you appreciate that obviously), but really deep down do you wish they’d remember your anniversary and give you a small thoughtful gift to show they care?
Do I only have one Love Language?
“But I like all those things!” I can hear you saying.
While all types of love make us feel good, we usually have one primary Love Language that we tend to default to. It’s how we instinctually give love and what we feel is most lacking in our relationships if we’re not receiving it.
But it’s common to have two Love Languages as equally important to you. And they often change from relationship to relationship: you may love physical touch with your romantic partner but prefer quality time with your friends.

Should I look at my Sun Sign only?
The general rule of thumb when reading horoscopes is to check for both your Sun Sign and Rising Sign (or Ascendant), because both have huge influences on our personality.
But when we’re looking at our love language according to your zodiac sign, there’s another planet we want to check: Venus.
Our Venus sign shows how we give and receive love in relationships.
So I’d suggest looking at the Love Languages for the following 3 placements in your chart, and seeing which resonates the most (or if all 3 do equally):
- Your Sun Sign: your self-expression and identity (what your friends know you as).
- Your Rising Sign: your aura and social persona (people’s first impression of you).
- Your Venus Sign: your unique romantic signature

Aquarius
