Life gets to be fun, right? There’s a time and place for deep serious work, but what a lot of the spiritual & self-development community misses is the magic and the play. And there’s nothing that brings out our inner child and inner witch more than Harry Potter. So I’ve combined Hogwarts houses and zodiac signs together to create a fun way to dive deeper into discovering your unique identity and unapologetically sharing that with the world.
Why bring Hogwarts Houses and zodiac signs together?
My mission as a coach & healer is to take women deep to alchemise their wounds so they can step into their most bold, don’t give a single fuck if someone don’t like it authentic expression. That shadow work stuff can get heavy.
But I’m also here to bring joy and magic to the world, so my unique flavour is a permission slip for you to have fun with these kind of ‘character test’ quizzes.
Yes, many Buzzfeed quizzes are absolute garbage. But tools like astrology and Human Design are legitimate ways of understanding your self-expression, your blocks, your blindspots, your unique gifts (which we can also be blind to) and our opportunities for growth.
And today I’ve dolloped an extra dose of fun on top with the Hogwarts theme.
Can I only be one Hogwarts House?
Umm, have you read the books? Obviously.
Just kidding (but the Sorting Hat would agree with me).
This fun astrology x Hogwarts collab is a very simplified version, and the zodiac signs are way more nuanced than this. In fact, some astrologers would call me blasphemous for putting the zodiac signs through a Sorting Ceremony and assigning them Hogwarts Houses. But I reiterate: we get to have fun.
Another thing: in our personal astrology charts, every single one of us has all 12 zodiac signs present – they simply play out in different areas of our lives, and some are more dominant than others.
So when you’re reading these Hogwarts House descriptions, firstly, have fun; and secondly, don’t feel confused if you don’t fit perfectly into one House. It’s very possible for you to be a Ravenclaw with a Taurus undertone, or a Slytherin with a Leo undertone. Just like Harry and Hermione are super different types of Gryffindors (sporty vs nerdy).
Should I look at my Sun Sign only?
The general rule of thumb when reading horoscopes is to check for both your Sun Sign and Rising Sign (or Ascendant), because both have huge influences on our personality.
- Your Sun Sign is your self-expression and identity (what your friends know you as).
- Your Rising Sign is your aura and social persona (people’s first impression of you).
You can look up your astrology chart here and dive deeper into what it means here.

Aries: Gryffindor
Brave, risk-taking leaders.
No surprises here. Aries run towards danger, and are usually competitive, athletic and a little combative (this just screams Quidditch captain). Underneath their brashness and short tempers, though, they have hearts of gold and thrive when they’re able to follow their instincts as leaders. Aries always have the best intentions are are willing to forgive and forget. Their energy is quintessential warrior-hero vibes.
Taurus: Hufflepuff
Chill, reliable, earthy.
Tauruses love stability and comfort, which is why they fit perfectly in with their loyal, friendly and no-nonsense wizards in Hufflepuff. Don’t confuse their steadfastness as weakness though, because these Taurean bulls are determined. They also have a knack for anything to do with plants, so you’ll likely find them in the Herbology classroom with Professor Sprout (the Head of Hufflepuff, btw). Need more proof? Huffelpuff’s dorm is underground and literally next to the school kitchens, and Tauruses are known as being the foodies of the zodiac.
Gemini: Slytherin
Adaptable, intelligent, curious.
Geminis get a reputation for being two-faced or deceitful (and sure, there are probably some who feel the pull of dark wizardry), but their quick minds and even quicker wits are also used for good. Slytherins are cunning and ambitious, which aren’t always bad qualities when used with the right intentions. Geminis are great communicators and possess a natural friendly charm. They’re curious to a fault; which is ultimately how Tom Riddle started down his path of Horcruxes, right?

Cancer: Hufflepuff
Intuitive, emotionally intelligent, nurturing.
Where else would you find a Cancer than snuggled down in the Hufflepuff Common Room, listening to their classmates’ troubles and supporting their friends? Cancers have mama bear energy, and they are the most loyal, caring and compassionate people you’ll meet. But don’t get me wrong, Cancers have a fiercely protective side. Never underestimate a Hufflepuff. Also, great thing the Hufflepuff dorm is right next to the kitchen, because Cancers love comfort food.
Leo: Gryffindor
Big-hearted, brave, playful.
This one’s just too easy, the Lion being the Gryffindor signet. While Aries run towards danger, Leos run towards drama. They’re confident, charismatic leaders with big hearts and buckets of optimism. Gryffindors tend to assume they’re the House and love being the centre of attention, which is true for Leos too. But we love them for it. Harry Potter is also a Leo – ahem, main character energy.
Virgo: Ravenclaw
Analytical, helpful, honest.
You’ll always want a Virgo in your corner, because they’re some of the most trustworthy, practical and observant people around. They often are logical when others are over-emotional, which makes them the overachievers of Hogwarts. They’re far from cold though; Virgos are incredible listeners, unbelievably patient and will always drop everything to help out their friends. The Ravenclaw dorm is high up in a tower (exactly where observant Virgo wants to be) and the only way to get in is to be clever enough to solve a riddle asked by the door knocker. Virgos love this shit.

Libra: Hufflepuff
Peaceful, charming, fair.
Libras value their social relationships above all, and there’s no more friendship-oriented House than Hufflepuff. They also love all things aesthetic, romantic and artistic (and personally I think the Hufflepuff dorm is the most beautiful). They’re naturally drawn to justice and mediation, and can tend to be a little people-pleasing. But luckily, they’re safe amongst the other peaceful easygoing Hufflepuffs who won’t try to take advantage of them.
Scorpio: Slytherin
Magnetic, driven, strategic.
Surprise, surprise. Scorpios are an intuitive, perceptive bunch in touch with their inner serpent, and can probably most definitely speak in Parseltongue. Although they get a bad rap for being drawn to darkness, Scorpios (and Slytherins) actually understand that delving deep into the shadows, something most people avoid, is where we heal, grow and create more light. While initimidating, they’re actually super empathetic and can even be mindreaders.
Sagittarius: Gryffindor
Optimistic, passionate, carefree.
Another fire sign you say, hmm? Must be…a Gryffindor! Sagittarians are adventurous, free-spirited and spontaneous, with a dose of blatant honesty that sometimes gets them in trouble. They’re also wise and scholarly, so you’re just as likely to find them in the library as you are in the Forbidden Forest trying to find a centaur (that’s the Sagittarius symbol, after all). These Gryffindors are inspirational leaders, and crave independence and freedom more than anything.

Capricorn: Slytherin
Responsible, serious, driven.
Capricorns, just like Slytherins, are one of the most commanding, committed and ambitious signs. Their work ethic is unparalleled, with a single-minded focus on achieving their goals and discipline that is envied by the other Houses. While they can appear closed off and cold, don’t be fooled; Capricorns are incredibly reliable and loyal. Just don’t expect them to entertain your dumb plans to chase a troll into the dungeons, because they’ve got places to go.
Aquarius: Ravenclaw
Objective, unconventional, independent.
The inventors and visionaries of the zodiac, Aquarius are definitely not afraid to do things differently and own what sets them apart. They love talking about intellectual topics and fiddling around with technology; the Time Turner was definitely invented by an Aquarius Ravenclaw. Whilst they come off quirky and aloof (like the Ravenclaw Aquarius icon, Luna Lovegood), Aquarians are super friendly and treat everyone equally so they’re well-liked by everyone.
Pisces: Ravenclaw
Empathetic, contemplative, imaginative.
Up in the astronomy tower is exactly where you’ll find a Pisces, and also most Ravenclaws. These mystics are extremely intuitive, spiritual and creative, so Divination is their realm of magic. Pisceans are also the most compassionate and selfless people you’ll meet, which can cause them to be way too loose with their boundaries or always see the best in people. With their rose-coloured glasses (think Professor Trelawney), Pisces love to escape to other realms or get lost in the clouds.
